President’s Blog

Our little town is growing up.  I am excited to announce that the DISCOVERY Children’s Museum will be calling The Smith Center home come Fall 2012.  My face lights up when I think of school buses full of children coming to be inspired by the world-class performances presented at The Smith Center and enriched by all-new exhibits inside the DISCOVERY Children’s Museum.  We have been searching for years to find the right cultural amenity to join The Smith Center and I am happy to say we found it.  I know my daughter will enjoy it and I hope your families will too.

David Schwarz and I are headed off to Italy today with members of the design team to pick the final blocks of stone for The Smith Center Grand Lobby.    This will be the stone used on every wall and floor surface of the grand lobby, creating what we hope will be a lasting first impression for everyone who walks through the doors.  Based on the samples – the Italian marble is going to look fantastic!  Check back with me soon to see how it went.
